Our basic tour begins in the intriging city of Santiago. We visit several of the distinct and charming barrios along with visits to Cerro Santa Lucia (site of the first camp in1540) and Cerro San Cristobal with amazing vistas of the city and surrounding Andes. From Old World allure of Barrios Brasil and Bella Vista to the glitz and soaring skyscrapers of Providencia and Los Condes, Santiago has a little of everything.
Historic Valparaiso perches on several hills overooking the beautiful, busy harbor. Colorful
buildings dot the hillsides, while street art and murals, cafes and coffee shops are found everywhere.
Once a major port for ships coming "around the Horn", it is often overshaowed by Vina del Mar to the north, but a leisurly stroll reveals it true character and charm.
Chile is rapidly becoming recognized worldwide as a producer of fine wines. You'll visit one of the largest wineries in Chile on the outskirts of Santiago in Maipo Canyon. We'll also take you to Maule and Colchagua Valleys near Santa Cruz in the heart of the red wine producing region. A taste of the unique Carmenere is a must as it is grown only in Chile.
A Walk in the Andes
As interesting as the cities may be, you really need to wander into the Andes to enjoy their natural beauty. Following a short walk you'll be treated to a traditional Chilean BBQ at a local farmhouse. The ultimate in local flavor.
