The remote parts of the Madidi National Park are some of our favorite trips here at Mountain Adventures, and are sure to become yours
too. This is one of the last remaining areas of uninhabited, undisturbed rainforest in the entire Amazon basin, enabling you to experience
a large variety of
The tours begin in small jungle town of Rurrenabaque, you'll travel by river using motorized dugout boats to gain
access deep into the heart of the Madidi National Park, far beyond the usual tourist stops, and into the home of Tapir, Caimen, Capybara,
Jaguar, monkeys, Macaws, Toucans, and more. Jaguarundi, Collared Peccary, River otter, Giant Armadillo, and Giant Anteater may also
be seen in addition to the exceptionally abundant birdlife. Some other Amazon favorites inhabit the rivers such as Piranha, freshwater
Stingrays and, in some areas, the rare freshwater Pink Dolphin. This is only a small sample since 44% of all New World mammal species,
38% of tropical amphibian species and more than 1100 avian species are represented here in the Madidi National Park. Day hikes will
allow you to truly experience the lush rainforest and learn a few of it's secrets.
Awaken at dawn to the primeval roar of the Howler
monkeys, travel through constantly changing scenery by day as we move into more remote and smaller rivers, and then drift off to sleep
at night watching a fantasy scene as fireflies flitter through the black jungle canopy. The magical, mystical jungle with sounds,
sights and smells like nowhere else.
The trips end with a visit to one of the most striking Macaw saltlicks to be found anywhere.
