The highest mountain outside of Asia, Aconcagua (22,834ft, 6959m) lies in the Andes of western Argentina. While the south face of
Aconcagua is a spectacular wall of rock and ice more than 8,000ft high, the north side is a huge rocky slope with a moderate to steep
gradient, generally free of snow and ice. It's high altitude exposes Aconcagua to very strong winds, which, combined with the intense
summer sun of the southern latitude make this climb a challenge, yet it requires no technical mountaineering expertise. However, the
altitude and weather make it a true large scale mountaineering expedition, and the perfect introduction to the world's great climbs.
In
addition to the beautiful mountains, you'll enjoy the culture of Argentina. Buenos Aires, with it's European flavor, and Mendoza,
located in the foothills of the Andes and in the center of the wine country offer an abundance of sidewalk cafes, parks, and distinctive
archtechture.
