The six-day tour is designed as an extension to for our
Vietnam
programs.
From Sapa and Lao Cai, you'll cross the border to Hekou in China, and from
there, travel to Yuanyang to experience the beautiful rice terraces on the mountains.
Driving north you'll visit the "Stone Forest" a fantastic maze of limestone pillars
created by erosion over the last 200 million years to form this amazing forest of
stone.
You'll fly to the fabled Shangri-la and visit the Songzanlin Tibetan Monastery built
in 1681, then continue on deep into the mountains near the Tibetan border to
see the Dong Zhu Lin Monastery built in 1667. You'll see Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world on the way to Lijiang to explore the Ancient Town listed
as a UNESCO World Culture Heritage site. Lijiang is also the center of the Naxi
ethnic group and you'll visit the Baisha Naxi village, and Black Dragon Pool

This ten-day tour can be either an extension of a Vietnam tour, or a stand-alone to be enjoyed on its own. You'll begin in Kunming, near the center of Yunnan Province. From there you'll see The Stone Forest, Jianshui and the Yuanyang rice terraces. Flying to Shangri-la, you'll visit ancient Tibetan monasteries, and the Baimang Snow Mountain Pass which is a National Nature Reserve. Tiger Leaping Gorge and Lijiang Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Culture Heritage site. You'll visit Baisha Naxi village and see the Baisha murals from the Ming Dynasty, Black Dragon Pool, Jade Spring Park and the Dongba Culture Museum. On the way to Dali, you'll travel on an old road through areas few tourists get to see as the locals go about their daily lives. In Dali, visit the famous Three Pagodas and stroll through the Dali Old Town where you can sample some of the excellent local foods.

Our 15-day tour begins the same as the 10-day, but you'll continue south to the tropical city of Jinghong. Here you'll board of one of the speedboats to cruise the Mekong river to Chiang Saen in Northern Thailand. This is the famous "Golden Triangle" area at the junction of Thailand, Burma, and Laos.The next day you'll travel once again by boat on the Mekong river to Luangprabang, Laos. Here you'll be able to relax in the slow paced atmosphere of this small tropical city on the banks of the Mekong river. Kuang-Si Falls, Pak Ou Caves, Phu-Si mountain, numerous temples, evening market, bakeries and spas will fill your days here.
