You won't want to miss this event! From our lodging on the outskirts of Hanga Roa, it's just a short walk to Ahu Tahai (photo above) for viewing the shadow as it approaches from the northwest. Although the main totality will occur northwest of Easter Island, the path crosses directly over our location bringing even more magic to this already mystical place.
The trip begins in Santiago, Chile where we will explore the city and visit some of the most famous wineries in the region, followed by a trip to the coastal city of Valparaiso. Then you'll fly to Easter Island a few days prior to the eclipse. You'll have plenty of time to soak up the serene and friendly atmosphere, and we'll provide tours of the island to share various historic and scenic points of interest.
Space is extremely limited and airline tickets from Santiago to Easter Island will have to be purchased August 2009, so contact us soon.
The sun's shadow is racing toward you across the Pacific and soon all will be dark as night and an eerie stillness will settle over this place as you stand among the mysterious moai of Easter Island.
