Easter Island
Rapa Nui, Isla de Pascua, or Easter Island, whatever name you choose to call it, this tiny, remote island will forever become part of your memories.
Numerous archeological sites dot the island, some with the iconic moais, others are caves with ancient paintings relating to the "Birdman" ceremonies, others, remnants of villages with foundations of the odd "boat house". Rock carvings and petroglyphs abound, but even with these treasures, you'll still be mesmerized by the deep blue Pacific endlessly crashing against the black lava cliffs. Combining walks and driving we'll share most of the island with you, from the village of Orango on the crater rim of volcanic Rana Kau, to sandy Anakeena beach on the northern coast. Most of the 4000 residents live in the island's only town of Hanga Roa, but you'll quickly notice that there are more horses than people in this place. Time moves at a different pace here and you'll be captivated by this magical island.
Your tours will begin in Santiago, Chile, where you'll explore the city which is surrounded by the towering Andes mountains, and then visit some of the most famous wineries in Chile. We'll take you to the Maipo canyon in the foothills of the Andes to enjoy some of the spectacular waterfalls and trails. Not to be missed, you'll visit the coastal city of Valparaiso, steeped in history of the 18th and 19th centuries when it was the first stop for those "coming around the Horn".
They all missed Easter Island, be sure you don't.
